Project Summary
This home’s HVAC system repeatedly shut down overnight due to a rusting air handler, ongoing water leaks, and severely restricted airflow. Rather than perform another temporary repair, we installed a new Bryant variable-speed system, corrected the ductwork, and raised the air handler to improve drainage. The result is reliable, efficient cooling backed by a 10-year parts and compressor warranty.

Project Overview
The homeowner contacted us after their HVAC system repeatedly stopped cooling overnight. Our inspection revealed the problem wasn’t a single failed component—it was a combination of a deteriorating air handler, poor airflow, and improper installation that had been creating recurring shutdowns.
The existing air handler was heavily rusted and leaking water inside the cabinet. The condensate repeatedly activated the float safety switch, shutting the system down until the drain could be cleared. At the same time, airflow testing showed the system was operating under excessive static pressure, forcing the blower to work harder than designed and reducing overall performance.
Because the equipment was already failing in multiple areas, we recommended replacing the system and correcting the underlying installation issues rather than continuing with temporary repairs.
Work Performed
To restore dependable performance, our technicians completed a full HVAC system replacement and corrected the airflow and drainage problems contributing to the failures.
The project included:
- Installation of a new Bryant 5-ton outdoor condenser.
- Installation of a new Bryant variable-speed air handler.
- Correction of the existing supply ductwork to improve airflow throughout the home.
- Raising the air handler approximately 10 inches on a new equipment platform to improve condensate drainage.
- Installation of a new secondary drain pan with overflow safety switches.
- Installation of new 8kW electric auxiliary heat.
- Flushing and reusing existing refrigerant and condensate drain lines where appropriate.
- Reconnecting the homeowner’s existing ecobee smart thermostat.
- Complete system startup, testing, and commissioning.
Results Delivered
The homeowner now has an HVAC system that cools consistently without the overnight shutdowns caused by water accumulation and poor airflow.
The new Bryant variable-speed air handler provides improved airflow while operating more efficiently and quietly than the previous system. Correcting the supply ductwork reduced excessive static pressure, allowing the system to move air properly throughout the home.
Raising the air handler and installing new overflow safeties resolved the drainage issues that repeatedly interrupted cooling, while the matched Bryant equipment delivers dependable comfort backed by a 10-year parts and compressor warranty and our 1-year workmanship warranty.
Instead of continuing to chase recurring problems, the homeowner now has a properly installed system designed for long-term reliability.
